Welcome! I am a biocultural anthropologist studying human-animal interactions, including the role of companion animals in modern families. This includes research into the practice of applying parenting strategies to pets in the home. As the archetypal "parented" pet, I am particularly interested in the human-canine bond and its deep, evolutionary history.
I received my PhD in Anthropology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2017. I have been interviewed on DogLab with Brian Burton, KNPR’s State of Nevada, BSPR's Fresh Air, and my work has been featured on National Geographic.
Please visit the Research page to read more about current projects and the Publications for a selected bibliography of work. The Teaching page includes details regarding my teaching philosophy, courses taught, and courses in development.
